Ducati 1299 Superleggera India launch happens at insane price tag of Rs.1.12 crores which can get you a house in Mumbai or just this bike
Imagine asking your father to write a cheque for you as a gift to purchase a new bike, fabulous, you must have done something special to deserve it. Now, imagine letting your father know that the bike you wish to buy costs a paltry meager amount of Rs.1.12 Crores, Yup, it won’t end well. However, much to your father’s (or anyone else’s) disbelief, Ducati has actually launched the Ducati 1299 Superleggera in India at a price of Rs. 1.12 Crores, and that’s Ex-Showroom Delhi, on road pricing would be a bit higher.
So what do you get in all this money? Well you get the absolute flagship of Ducati, a bike that has the capability of re-writing rule books of what a production motorcycle can be. It is one of the most powerful and technologically marvelous piece on two wheels that your (lot of) money can buy. It comes wearing an incredibly sumptuous and unique shade of red (with a hint of orange) colour combined by tastefully executed white racing strips. The combination is inspired by the Italian company’s Desmosedici racing prototype.
Among the lightest of the Hyperbikes (superbikes are such as passé) the carbon fibre chassis, subframe, swingarm and even wheels make sure that the bike weighs a feather light 167kgs. That’s like your office bag and a Pulsar 220 combined. This means that the Ducati 1299 Superleggera boasts of a power-to-weight ratio that is among the best ever in the history of production motorcycles. The 1285cc Superquadro L-twin engine is the world’s most powerful V-twin production engine that makes 215bhp, and creates a symphony through an Akrapovic titanium race-spec exhaust system.
You get a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that takes care of rider aids like the traction control, slide control, launch control and cornering ABS. Suspension and braking setup has been supplied by Ohlins and Brembo respectively.Limited to a production run of just 500 units worldwide, the 1299 Superleggera is a very special and a rare motorcycle. Interestingly, Ducati India has said that they have received a few bookings however, they haven’t disclosed further details.
