Ducati today announced the launch of its 2022 Panigale V4 range. The new Panigale V4 is priced at INR 26.49 Lacs, while the Panigale V4 S is priced at INR 31.99 Lacs (Both prices ex-showroom India). Also updated for 2022, the Panigale V4 SP2 has an even more powerful braking system, magnesium wheels, Brembo Stylema front braking calipers, and dry clutch inherited from the WorldSBK bikes, racing foot pegs and a host of carbon components. The Panigale V4 SP2 is priced at INR 40.99 Lacs (Ex-showroom India) making it the top-of-the-

The Panigale V4 2022 undergoes some significant changes that redesign its style, making the bike more aggressive aesthetically. The brand-new graphic project designed by the Ducati Centro Stile includes black logos applied to the full red fairings, double fabric saddle (two-tone on the S version) and, again for the S version, the red tag on the black rims.

The aggressive look is also enhanced by the work developed on the fairing, which has been refreshed compared to the previous model to improve the aerodynamic set-up following the continuous updates made in MotoGP. In this new version the bike integrates more compact and thinner double-profile-design wings with increased efficiency, which guarantee the same vertical load, up to 37 kg at 300 km/h. The lower part of the fairing also features revised extraction sockets to improve cooling and therefore, the performance of the engine, especially on racetrack. On the Panigale V4 every single detail has its own value and this is, for example, testified by the small opening on the left side of the fairing, which allows to keep the temperatures of the Quick shifter sensor under control during heavy on-track use.

The main changes on the MY22 Panigale V4, in particular, concern the saddle and the fuel tank, which have been both redesigned. The former has now a flatter shape and an improved coating, which grants easier movement of the rider’s body and reduces the rider’s tendency to move forward when braking. The fuel tank has a new shape that gives it more capacity (+1 liter) and offers a completely different fit area compared to the 2021 version, allowing riders of all sizes to better anchor under braking and to ride faster and longer.

The heart of the bike is represented by the MotoGP-derived 1,103 cm3 Desmosedici Stradale, which has also undergone a series of updates. The new engine is combined to a new silencer and new oil pump. Thanks to these modifications along with dedicated engine calibration, the Desmosedici Stradale sees its maximum power increase by 1.5 hp achieving 215.5 hp at 13,000 rpm and also delivers a torque of 123.6 Nm at 9,500 rpm. It also provides the rider with a torque of over 100 Nm starting from 6,000 rpm.

One of the most distinctive innovations introduced by the 2022 engine is the adoption of a new gearbox that provides for a lengthening of the ratios for the first, second and sixth gears. This type of gear ratio is Panigale V4 R-derived – ridden in SBK World Championship – which results in with ratios more suitable for on-track use and racing activities.

Turning to in-depth details: the first gear has been lengthened by 11.6%, while the second by 5.6%. Thanks to this new gearbox, it is now easier to tackle the tightest corners in first gear, enjoying better engine braking as well as acceleration out of corners. Furthermore, the smaller revs difference between the first two ratios allows the new calibrated DQS, to work more effectively, offering rewarding results. Lastly, sixth gear has been lengthened by 1.8% allowing, in combination with the increase in engine power, a top speed which is higher than the Panigale V4 2021 by 5 km/hr.

A new Power Mode logic has been implemented on the Panigale V4 2022 which provides for 4 engine configurations: Full, High, Medium, Low. The Full and Low configurations are newly designed while the High and Medium configurations use a new strategy. Power Mode Full is the sportiest ever adopted by a Panigale V4 and allows the engine to express its full potential with torque curves without electronic filters, except for first gear.

The Power Mode Low, on the other hand, has been conceived to make road riding even more enjoyable, limiting the maximum power of the bike to 150 hp and offering a particularly manageable throttle response.

The performance of the Desmosedici Stradale can be improved further thanks to the racing exhaust systems contained in the Ducati Performance catalogue, for use on racetracks. The new Akrapovič exhaust, made entirely from Titanium, is equipped with high silencers alongside the tail and ensures a power increase of 12.5 hp, bringing the maximum value to 228 hp, while the maximum torque value rises to 131 Nm, with an overall weight reduction of 5 kg.

Specific technical choices on the chassis are the result of experiences honed in MotoGP and SBK and are aimed at improving on track performance. The final target is very clear: better times, achieved with less effort and with greater consistency. The Desmosedici Stradale is a stressed element of the chassis and the admired aluminum Front Frame is directly connected to it. The chassis is completed by the lightweight magnesium front frame and the seat post made of shell cast aluminum, fixed at the top to the Front Frame and screwed below to the head of the rear bank.

The S version of the Panigale V4 adopts an Öhlins NPX 25/30 pressurized fork, which fits into the Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 event-based electronic control system, representing the state-of-the-art suspension for road sports bikes. This layout is SBK-derived and minimizes the risk of oil cavitation during heavier use. The result? Better braking support and at the same time great absorption of road bumps.

On the new Panigale V4 the swingarm pivot is positioned 4 mm higher than that of the 2021 bike. This special technical choice increases the anti-squat effect, stabilizing the bike in acceleration and helping the rider in all those throttle-open phases: changes of direction, out-of-corners acceleration. This new position of the pivot (which is fixed and non-adjustable) allows the biker to increase the opportunity of adjusting the suspension.

The Panigale V4 S is equipped with 3-spoke forged aluminum alloy wheels and fitted with Pirelli DIABLO™ Supercorsa SP tyres in 120/70 ZR17 front and 200/60 ZR 17 rear sizes. As for the braking system, the bike mounts Brembo Stylema® monobloc calipers at the front with four 30 mm diameter pistons each working on 330 mm diameter discs, ensuring exceptional braking power. At the rear, it uses a 245 mm disc with 2-piston caliper.

Panigale V4 standard version also features an absolutely outstanding chassis and is equipped with the 43 mm diameter fully-adjustable Showa Big Piston Fork (BPF), Sachs steering damper, fully-adjustable Sachs monoshock and cast aluminum rims with a 5-spoke design. The Panigale V4 features the latest-generation electronics package based on a 6-axis inertial platform which instantly detects the bike’s roll, yaw and pitch angles.

The electronics package oversees every aspect of the ride: some controls supervise start, acceleration and braking, others govern traction and others lend a helping hand in corners and out-of-the-corner stretches.

Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES) EVO – Panigale V4 S

Electronic suspension offers a choice between manual “Fixed” mode – which allows for “virtual-click” manual adjustment (32 clicks between fully open and fully closed for the suspension and 10 for the shock absorber) of compression, rebound and steering damping – and automatic “Dynamic” mode.

When “Dynamic” mode is selected the system automatically adjusts – on the basis of information received from the inertial platform and other sensors – compression and rebound damping in response to riding style.

The Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 system has the considerable advantage of letting riders customize the intensity of suspension response to individual riding input (braking, cornering, acceleration) and letting them modify the operating parameters of individual hardware components. This gives the rider access to next-level dynamic bike control, augmenting on-road safety and faster track lap times.

2022 Ducati Panigale V4 India Price Specs launch (3)

Riding Mode Race A – Race A riding mode in its default configuration was developed for experienced riders who want to exploit the full potential of the bike on the track. By selecting Race A, the rider can count on all the engine power with direct ride-by-wire response when the throttle is opened.

Riding Mode Race B – by selecting the Riding Mode Race B, the rider can count on all the engine power but with reduced torque delivery in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear compared to Race A, in order to make the bike more manageable during long sessions on the track, on circuits with characteristics that favor cornering rather than strong acceleration or characterized by irregular or low-grip surfaces.

Riding Mode Sport – Selecting Sport gives the rider 215.5 hp, with direct sport-style Ride by Wire throttle response and, on the S version, a sport style suspension set-up. Electronic control settings allow even less experienced riders to enjoy effective, spectacular handling.

Street Riding Mode – Street Riding Mode is recommended when riding the Panigale V4 on the streets. As with Sport Riding Mode, this RM gives the rider 150 hp and progressive Ride by Wire throttle response; on the Panigale V4 S version it features a suspension set-up that is well suited to bumpy or pitted roads.

The dashboard of the Panigale V4 2022 features a new “Track Evo” Info Mode which is added to the existing Road and Track settings. Directly derived from that of the Superleggera V4 with a design close to that of the Desmosedici MotoGP, this screen offers a graphic layout of the TFT display conceived to provide an immediate view of the information but, among others, also reporting the instant speed data.

The DLT GPS feature automatically records and saves lap times and displays them directly on the dashboard each time the bike crosses the finish line, the coordinates of which are set by pressing the flasher button. DLT is available as a Ducati Performance plug-and-play accessory.

The Ducati Data Analyser + GPS (DDA + GPS) allows assessment of bike and rider performance by showing traces for specific data items. DDA + GPS is a vital on-track performance monitoring tool. Not only does it automatically display and record Panigale V4 lap times, but it also saves other data traces such as throttle opening, bike speed, engine rpm, selected gear, engine temperature, distance travelled, rpm and DTC. DDA + GPS is available as a Ducati Performance plug-and-play accessory.

Panigale V4 versatility is also evident in the fact that it’s ready for the Ducati Multimedia System (DMS). This lets riders take incoming calls, select and listen to music or receive text messages via a Bluetooth link.

2022 Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 Is Even More Hardcore Version! (3)

Panigale V4 SP2

The Panigale V4 SP2 is characterized by the “Winter Test” livery, in which the matt black of the fairings is combined with the matt carbon finish of the wings, contrasting with the bright red accents and the brilliance of the exposed brushed aluminium tank. The wings with double profile design are embellished with the Italian flag which also appears on the official Panigale V4 R SBK.

The lower part of the fairing is distinguished by the presence of the Ducati Corse logo in the area of the new hot air extractors and by a red detail bearing the name of the bike, also present on the black saddle in double material. The steering head is machined from solid and shows the progressive number of the motorcycle, making each model unique.

The heart of the Panigale V4 SP2 is the 1,103 cc Desmosedici Stradale derived from MotoGP: a V4 with counter-rotating crankshaft equipped with a lot of torque from low revs and capable of expressing the racing soul of the bike on the track. For 2022, the Desmosedici Stradale has improved with the introduction of dedicated technical elements, which have made it possible to increase power and improve throttle response. Thanks to these interventions and a new dedicated mapping, the Euro 5 version engine delivers 215.5 hp at 13,000 rpm, with a power increase of 1.5 hp over the Panigale V4 2021.

To capitalize on the full potential of this engine, dedicated gear-by-gear torque curves and four different Power Modes (Full, High, Medium, Low) have been developed by Ducati. The Full and Low configurations are newly developed, while the High and Medium configurations use a new strategy.

When used on the racetrack, the performance of the Desmosedici Stradale can be further improved with the new full titanium Ducati Performance racing exhaust, developed in collaboration with Akrapovič and available as an accessory.

This exhaust is equipped with high silencers alongside the tail and has been redesigned to increase performance and limit noise, offering everyone the opportunity to run with a full racing exhaust even in circuits with the most stringent noise limits. With this exhaust the Panigale V4 SP2 is lightened by 5 kg thus taking the dry weight of the motorcycle to only 168 kg. The Akrapovič exhaust also guarantees an increase in power of 12.5 hp, bringing the maximum value to 228 hp, while the maximum torque value rises to 131 Nm.

The connection to the bikes that race in the Superbike World Championship is even more evident in the “SP2” version of the Panigale V4. In fact, this bike adds the lightened final drive with 520 chain and the STM-EVO SBK dry clutch to the more “track-oriented” gearbox, already presented on the Panigale V4 2022. This clutch guarantees a more effective anti-hopping function in extreme use of the bike on the track and greater fluidity in all phases of “off throttle” compared to the oil bath clutch of the Panigale V4 S.

The chassis of the Panigale V4 SP2 includes an aluminium front frame that uses the Desmosedici Stradale as a stressed element. The aluminium swingarm and the seat post in shell-cast aluminium are directly connected to the engine. The pivot of the swingarm is positioned in such a way as to increase the anti-squat effect, which is the reduction of the sinking of the rear when exiting corners and when reopening the throttle, thus stabilizing the bike in acceleration.

The suspension system features an electronically controlled 125 mm travel Öhlins NPX25/30 pressurized fork at the front that uses a pressurized cartridge damping system derived from that of racing forks. This fork, in combination with the Öhlins TTX36 shock absorber and with the electronic steering damper, also Öhlins, forms the second generation of the Smart EC 2.0 system characterized by OBTI (Objective Based Tuning Interface) logic which, working “by objectives” and not by clicks, allows the rider a much more intuitive management than traditional systems.

To further enhance the performance on the track and the dynamic qualities of the Panigale V4, the “SP2” version is equipped with magnesium rims which are 0.9 kg lighter than the forged aluminium ones fitted as standard on the Panigale V4 S.

The Panigale V4 SP2 is also equipped with exclusive Brembo Stylema front braking calipers, which guarantee high braking power combined with exceptional consistency of performance even during a lengthy timed session without changes to the travel of the brake lever. The calipers are operated by a Brembo MCS (Multiple Click System) radial pump that allows you to adjust the wheelbase quickly and easily on three configurations to customize the braking feeling. The front brake lever is equipped with a “remote adjuster” device, which allows you to adjust its position by acting on a knob on the left grip, as is the case on racing bikes. Finally, on the “SP2” version the brake and clutch levers are milled at the ends to reduce air resistance.

Another essential element that characterizes the Panigale V4 SP2 is the equipment with Rizoma foot pegs in anodized aluminium with carbon fibre heel guards. The foot pegs are fully adjustable and maximize ground clearance for more effective use on the track. These racing foot pegs offer great grip for the boots, essential for riding at the limit on the circuit. The Panigale V4 SP2 has an electronic package that includes controls that manage all the riding phases, whose operating parameters are linked by default to the 4 Riding Modes (Race A, Race B, Sport, Street).

All the electronic parameters of the bike can be clearly visualized thanks to the dashboard and to the “Track Evo” display mode, derived from the one used in MotoGP. In this screen, the tachometer moves on a horizontal scale positioned in the highest part of the instrument, or the most visible, and the indication of the gear engaged is in the center of the screen. In the right area of the display there are four different colored sectors, each dedicated to an electronic control (DTC, DWC, DSC, EBC). These sectors light up individually when the electronics are working on a certain parameter, remaining on for the time necessary for the rider to identify which indicator is activated.

On the “SP2” version, the GPS module is standard, thus allowing the activation of the automatic Lap Time function, which instantly provides the indication of two split times of the track on which you are lapping. Furthermore, by loading the Slick Ducati Performance Software (available as an accessory), Ducati Traction Control curves expressly developed for slick and rain tyres are available and the possibility of memorizing the coordinates of five different tracks is activated, as well as five additional fully customizable Riding Modes. Finally, thanks to the Ducati Data Analyzer, standard on the SP2, it is possible to conduct an in-depth analysis of all performance data.
