The popularity of pickup trucks is on the rise – not just only in India but all across the globe. Especially among the millennials, the trend of off-roading and overlanding is increasingly becoming popular. Despite this, there aren’t many offerings around in India that can satiate our hunger for pickup trucks in a cost-effective manner. The minimum price that you have to pay for pickup truck is around 25 lakh and this begs the question why can’t Force launch affordable yet lifestyle-oriented Gurkha pickup truck in the Indian market?
Given the fact that 5-door version of Force Gurkha is already on its way, it’s quite logical that company must also contemplate the possibility of launching its pickup version for driving enthusiasts. The company has already got a good combination of ideal ingredients such as ladder on frame chassis and very capable 4X4 drivetrain mechanism to make this Pickup truck a real possibility.
Force Gurkha pickup should come with the seating capacity of five with a large truck bed tagged behind to offer rugged look and enhanced practicality. As the company is already testing its upcoming 13-seater Gurkha, we think it is a perfect opportunity to spawn a capable pickup truck on the same platform. The long wheelbase of 13-seat Gurkha can easily accommodate the requirements of both 5-passenger and a lengthy truck bed; making in making it an ideal platform for launching the pickup truck along with enhanced capacity for transportation purposes.
Force already manufactures a single cab pickup truck known by the name of Kargo King which is available in both 8 feet and it 9 feet truck bed variants for the commercial market. Therefore, it won’t require drastic efforts for the company to come up with a Gurkha pickup truck. The currently available force Gurkha in the market comes with a 4-seat capacity with the rear row featuring the captain seats.
However, the company is testing a slew of new variants with more seats for the possible launch in the market. Despite the likely increase in seating capacity, all variants of Gurkha will come powered by a 2.6-liter diesel engine which puts out 90PS of max power. It will be interesting to witness how the consumers will respond if Force decides to go ahead with the launch of Gurkha Pickup truck. From the business standpoint, it definitely makes good sense and we think Force must think about this launch with serious business intent.
