Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 seems to be approved in India, sparking speculations that the bike will be launched here soon. While it is entirely possible that the car will be launched in India, it will depend on one important factor.
Earlier this year, the new generation Husqvarna motorcycle was launched in India but only in two versions: Vitpilen 250 and Svartpilen 401. This is the first time the 401 model is available in India. However, Bajaj has decided to launch the 401 only in Svartpilen trim, while the 250 platform will be available in the street-naked Vitpilen model.This new homologation document suggests that Bajaj might be gearing up to launch the Svartpilen 250.
Compared to the Vitpilen 250, the bike gets darker bodywork, taller handlebars and beefier tyres. However, unlike the Svartpilen 401, this bike will not have spoked wheels and will run on alloys with tubeless tyres. While the 401 comes equipped with fancy Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires, you can expect to see MRF or TVS Protoq tyres on the Svartpilen 250.
Additionally, expect to see the same feature set as the Vitpilen 250, which includes an LCD display, dual-channel ABS and two-way quickshifter as standard.The engine will also be the same 249 cc unit, producing 31 horsepower and 25 Nm of torque.
Whether this bike goes on sale in India soon depends entirely on the demand. Bajaj sees for the two existing Husqvarna bikes being sold through the KTM dealer network. If there is enough demand, Bajaj can easily launch the Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 401 here, as the entire 250 and 401 line of street bikes are manufactured at Chakan.
