Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 India Testing Begins. Sources say Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 Will come in India around Nov-Dec 2018 through KTM Showrooms.
Earlier the company had revealed the smaller displacement versions of the same. The Vitpilen 401 concept was revealed in 2015 at the EICMA show. The exposed trellis frame houses the KTM sourced 390cc single cylinder engine but with a brown casting logo on it. The Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 is styled just like the smaller Svartpilen 701 that Husqvarna unveiled late last year. The overall bike depicts a silhouette of the KTM Duke, as the Husqvarna Svartpilen is based on KTM’s engine platform itself.
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 is essentially the scrambler variant of the Vitpilen 701. The bike is equipped with a scrambler like a handlebar and an instrument cluster seems to be more slimmer than the one found on the Tipline. The test unit bears a single disc brake up front and gets dual channel ABS. The Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 test bike bears dual-sport tyres and spoke wheels.
Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 differs from the KTM in terms of styling, but technically will stay very similar. The motorcycle features a round headlamp along with a slim looking tank. The handlebars of the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 have been lowered which ensures the rider adopts a posture more like a cafe-racer with sharper seat section.
Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 has a scrambler persona. Both motorcycles use the single cylinder engine borrowed from the KTM with a little bit of different engine tuning. The 373cc motor should make similar horsepower and torque numbers and should focus that power in the lower and mid-range of the rev limit.
What’s notable with the latest prototypes is that they’re much closer in style to the original Svartpilen 401 concept bikes in terms of their overall appearance. As we know the production version is out in the European market. The motorcycle are nearing production phase and we may see the final products by the end of the year, most likely in late 2018 or early 2019.
