Hyundai Kona has a high chance of succeeding in every corner of the country if it comes as it has a funky SUV looks that is in fashion right now
SUV’s worldwide are ruling the roost when it comes to sales. The demand for sedans continues but it is the SUV’s that bring in the extra cash. Every segment has an SUV today right from compact to full large one’s. There are 5 and 7 seater version and then there are endless options to choose from. let it be powertrains, 4×4 and 4×2 options to the usual variants. Things are getting easier for manufacturer and people demanding as car as everyone heading in the same direction. Hyundai is no exception and they are bringing SUV’s in all segments worldwide.
India got its first compact SUV, the Creta and it is most likely to receive this, the Hyundai Kona. Hyundai Konoa looks good here with a very busy front-end design which Indians like. Multiple lamps, indicator lights, strong bumper, cladding on the sides, a hatchback silhouette at the side and the rear also has a very hatchback look to it.
Things are unknown for now whether it is coming to Indian market or not. The Hyundai Kona on the other hand in spyshots says that it looks smaller than the Creta and this could be the Carolina concept vehicle that is to debut in 2018, here in India. IF that happens, then it will be positioned below the Creta and go against the likes of popular SUV’s in the segment such as the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford Ecosport. Mahindra is exactly working on the same as it does not want to loose its market share in the SUV market, where it is a premium and niche player.
The engine on the Hyundai Kona will be the 1.2 litre petrol and 1.4 diesel motor mated to 6-speed manual and automatic options. They should, as always, with Hyundai cars, will be feature loaded, high on quality and will offer space and decent performance. Value for money should be high as well.
