Hyundai today launched the highly anticipated Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) and introduced Sport trim in VENUE. Hyundai is also offering a new Sport trim see in the pictures with a red accents on the inside and out. The Sport trim will include three variants. SX, SX(O), and SX+ for the turbo petrol and SX, SX(O) for the diesel. Normal petrol 1.2 kappa is excluded of the Sport trim for now. There is no automatic on the diesel yet.
Hyundai Venue IMT comes on the Kappa 1.0 l T-GDi Petrol BS6 engine along with a 7DCT as an option which makes 118 BHP and 172 Nm of torque. Hyundai Venue IMT Gearbox is a 6-Speed Manual Transmission that features an electromechanically actuated clutch.
FUNCTIONING OF INTELLIGENT MANUAL TRANSMISSION (iMT) –
Hyundai’s iMT technology features a Transmission Gear Shift (TGS) Lever with Intention Sensor, Hydraulic Actuator and Transmission Control Unit (TCU). The system has been designed to offer a seamless Drive Experience by incorporating a cohesive logic between the various components on manual transmissions:
• Transmission Control Unit receives signal from TGS Lever Intention Sensor, indicating driver’s desire to change gears.
• TCU sends signal to engage Hydraulic Actuator forming Hydraulic Pressure.
• Hydraulic Pressure is then sent to Concentric Slave Cylinder (CSC) through Clutch Tube.
• Concentric Slave Cylinder uses this pressure to control the clutch and pressure plate, thereby engaging and disengaging the clutch.
• Driver is able to seamlessly shift gears without the need to mechanically operate clutch pedal.
With the new launch of Hyundai Venue IMT, company is offering customers a clutch pedal free drive but with manual gear shift control for a thrilling Drive Experience that employs just the right facets of power packed performance ona Manual Transmission with the Seamless Comfort of a 2-Pedal Transmission.
Through this electromechanical operation of the clutch, iMT will offer drivers all the pleasures of driving a manual transmission. Further, the technology will empower customers with a more engaged drive experience by offering enhanced control over desired torque on wheels without compromising on fuel efficiency and performance.
