Jeep Compass Trailhawk to launch in India and is the trail rated version of the Compass. Will come with an automatic gearbox and more off-road hardware
Jeep took the Indian Auto market by a storm by launching the Compass in the nation with a starting price of just Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom, India). To further strengthen their hold in the market, the American automaker is adding a new variant (Trailhawk) to the Compass’s line-up. This new trim will be launched in the nation sometime later this year. We have pictures of the same from a private screening for potential customers and dealers.
As compared to the standard trim, the Trailhawk features higher ride height and heavy-duty off-road suspension. This suspension system is tuned to a lot of abuse and help to conquer different terrains with ease. In addition to this, Jeep is also offering hill descent control as a standard equipment. Jeep Compass Trailhawk trim is a hardcore off-road SUV and it will be placed above the current top variant.
Aesthetically, the Trailhawk trim come equipped with a blacked out front grille, modified front bumpers and a large matte black decal on the bonnet. It also gets new underbody protection which includes skid plates to protect the engine at the front and the differential at the rear. The Jeep badges at the front-rear are all blacked out and it also gets a Trailhawk badge on the boot lid. The SUV will ride on 17-inch rims and all-terrain 225/60 R17 tyres. Inside, Jeep is offering all black leather seats with red piping on it. It also gets Trailhawk badging on the seats while the dashboard gets a highlight of red accent.
For the Indian market, Jeep will be powering the Compass Trailhawk with a 2.0 litre four-cylinder diesel engine. This mill is capable of churning out 171bhp of power and 350Nm of twist and it will be coupled to a nine-speed automatic gearbox. As part of the package, it will also be equipped with an AWD system and a low-range gearbox. Once launched, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk will be positioned above the Limited 4×4 (Optional) diesel trim. Hence we can expect this trim to be priced between Rs.22 lakhs to Rs. 24 lakhs.
