Jeep India sales are declining due to premium price of their vehicles. Jeep India maintains its stance that they are premium brand in India and compete with other luxury car manufacturers in the country. The Compass is not on par with the Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV 700 or MG Hector. It ends up going the likes of the Volkswagen Tiguan and Citroen C5 Aircross. The company is now strengthening its portfolio in India by adding safety features and technologies such as ADAS.
Jeep Meridian has seen many limited edition variants till date and no we think that the ADAS 2024 test variant will come next. The test mule carries temporary Maharashtra number plates. Bosch is based in the state of Karnataka and hence the vehicle is sent here for testing initially before we think it goes nationwide for testing. For starters, the MY2024 Jeep Compass and its MY2024 three-row Jeep Meridian will be equipped with a variety of new safety technologies not available on the current model. This engine produces a maximum power of 150 horsepower and a maximum torque of 250 Nm. However, Jeep’s 4X4 system may not be paired with the new turbo gasoline engine. Another powertrain is the 2.0-litre turbo diesel that powers the Tata Harrier and Safari and the MG Hector and Hector Plus. The engine offers 170 hp of power and 350 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed torque converter. It is not yet known if the 2024 Jeep Meridian and 2024 Compass will see design changes. The price will go higher by Rs 1/1.5 lakh for ADAS equipped variant for Compass and Meridian.
