2015 Mahindra KUV 100 has to be most ambitious plan by the company to take on the likes of many competitors in the segment that are coming soon

Mahindra is kwown for making SUV in every single category in the recent history. The brand always had the Scorpio and Bolero which were two segments it came and pretty much has the majority of the market share. The brand went ahead and launched the ambitious project of XUV 500 which was an instant success. After that the Quanto, NuvoSport, TUV 300 and other products were launched and refreshed. Let’s call them facelift, MY upgrades, gearbox options or plain limited edition. The one, which was in the making for quite some time, was this, the KUV 100. The monocoque SUV under the sub four meter mark was meant to compete against entry-level cars from major brands such as Maruti and Hyundai. We have every single detail of the car here for your information.

Mahindra KUV 100 – Engine, Gearbox and Mileage

Mahindra has two engines on offer now. 1.2 petrol and 1.2 brand new diesel under the hood. Diesel makes 77 BHP and 190 Nm of torque. Petrol makes 82 BHP and 115 Nm of torque. The engines are mated to a smooth shifting 5-speed gearbox shifter that is mounted to the dashboard itself. Petrol engine is naturally aspirated unit and both engines are BS IV emissions friendly. Engines are all new and extremely technologically laden. Both fuel type engines are lightest in their segment. Petrol delivers 22.25 kmpl and the diesel returns 25.32 kmpl.

Mahindra KUV 100 Design and Dimensions

KUV 100 is one of the most interesting and quirky designs at the same time. Small elements, make sure it looks good. However, the overall design does look out of proportion to an extent. The KUV 100 makes up for everything with its interesting front-end design which have sunglasses inspired large head lamps, Audi Q7 tail-lamps are seen at the rear and Chevrolet Beat like rear door mounted on the top of the car. Overall, slightly quirky but at the same time the unique proposition and stance of the SUV makes it aggressive.

Mahindra KUV 100 – Chassis, suspension, Brakes and off-road

The SUV is the only car after the XUV 500 to get a monocoque chassis. The car weight is still on the higher side than expected, but Mahindra says it translates into the build quality that their ‘tough’ car offers. Suspension is a typical affair as it Independent McPherson Strut with Dual Path Mounts, Coil Spring and Hydraulic Gas Charged Shock Absorber and Semi-Independent Twist Beam with Coil Spring and Hydraulic Gas Charged Shock Absorber at the rear.

Tubeless Radials at the top variants which have 185/65 R14 wheels. With a turning circle of 5.05 and front wheel drive it is the ideal SUV to take of the slightly beaten up road and handle town duties like a small hatchback. No 4×4 or AWD is seen here and probably won’t come anytime soon either. Ventilated discs at the front and
