Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the XUV300 diesel with the BS6 compliant engine in India. The new BS6 Mahindra XUV300 Diesel joins the petrol version that was launched in December last year. Prices for the XUV300 diesel start at Rs. 8.69 lakh for the W4 trim, going up to Rs. 12.69 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom India) for the range-topping W8 (O) AMT. Interestingly, prices for the diesel version remain largely unchanged barring for the W6 AMT variant that gets price hike of about Rs. 1000. In contrast, the XUV300 petrol saw a price hike of Rs. 20,000 when it made the transition to BS6 norms.
The Mahindra XUV300 Diesel BS6 is powered by the same 1.5-litre diesel engine that has been upgraded to meet the new emission regulations. The motor now belts out 115PS and 300Nm of peak torque. The motor is paired with a 6-speed manual and an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) options. On the feature front, the SUV is loaded to the gills and comes with LED daytime running lights, electric sunroof, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Bluetooth telephony, multi-function steering wheel with cruise control and a whole lot more.
The Mahindra XUV300 competes against a number of offerings including the Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki VitaraBrezza and the likes. Unlike the XUV300 though, other SUVs received a price hike when they made the BS6 transition. Apart from the XUV300, Mahindra has also revealed specifications for the XUV500 and the Scorpio in the BS6 guise.
Mahindra & Mahindra is also expected to introduce the XUV300 Sportz Edition later this year with the more powerful 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine that develops 130PS. The special edition model with more power will arrive in the second half of 2020.
