Maruti-Suzuki is all set to sell the upcoming version of Toyota’s Innova under its own brand name as the Invicto. The new Maruti Invicto hybrid MPV ill be sold under the rebadged nameplate and the Innova Hycross becomes the very first cross-badged product to be used by Maruti because of the partnership between the two brands.
The upcoming MPV Maruti Invicto is a monocoque-based product featuring 7-8 seater layout. Innova Hycross sends the power to the front wheels of MPV. The power output from the 2.0-liter hybrid engine makes 184 PS which is sufficient from the perspective of a decent people mover considering it has lithium battery pack that makes it part electric and part ICE car. Fuel economy stands at 23 km/l.
The upcoming MPV Maruti Invicto is ready for launch on 5’th July 2023. The MPV production has begun already and is likely to offer features everything what the Hycross has. This includes a 360-degree surround camera setup, wireless charging system, panoramic sunroof, and ventilated seats, among others.
The version of Hycross that Maruti will sell in the Indian market will share underpinnings, hardware, and suspension system with Toyota. That said, Maruti could possibly make some visual changes at both front and rear to help its version of MPV stand apart from that of Toyota’s. Those changes are going to be very similar to the Fronx and Grand Vitara. The price is expected to be in the ballpark figure of Rs 20 lakh and the MPV will be positioned as a solo product and will rival no one in this category. Hyundai and Kia will get in this segment in a year or two. We believe Maruti will only get hybrid versions from Toyota to sell ahead.
