Mercedes AMG S63 India Launch marks an entry of the most good-looking coupe with the highest amount of luxury of performance

Mercedes Benz as we all know is German brand that makes luxury cars. Its AMG division is responsible for turning these run of the mill luxury cars into fire-breathing monsters. AMG isn’t only about multiplying horsepower numbers, its about redefining the definition of a sports car. Well, interestingly this German giant is launching an updated version of their VFM sports-coupe – the AMG S63. The launch is scheduled on 18th of June. The S63 4Matic+ gets a mid-life update to keep it fresh amongst the other crop. Mercedes also has a balls-out version which sits right above the S63, it is the S65 V12.

For now, let’s focus on what the Mercedes AMG S63 India specific model now comes bestowed with. For starters, the engine is still the same. It is the 4-liter twin-scroll turbo V8 which is also present in the Mercedes AMG-E63 S. This V8 pumps out 612 BHP. Hold on! The torque now is up by 50Nm which means that the total torque output now is a groundbreaking 900Nm. This behemoth is paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox with the 4-wheel drive as standard. As before, the twin scroll equipped engine gets a ‘hot V’ arrangement (turbos mounted inside the cylinder bank) to eliminate lag and improve power delivery.

If you’re into numbers, you’d be pleased. The Mercedes AMG S63 India specific model does 0 to 100kmph in just 3.5 seconds and the top speed is rated at 250 kph. Not happy with that? Well, then Mercedes has also made available an optional AMG Driver’s Pack, which increases the top whack to a ‘considerable’ 300kph.

On the outside the changes are subtle. The sleek silhouette is retained, but now the bumpers are redesigned to look more aggressive. The front sports the intricately designed Panamericana grille. The air intakes are now bigger and the clever aero sculpting is more pronounced. The rear is blessed with stealthy-looking quad exhausts and blacked out diffuser. And no we haven’t forgotten the beautiful looking 19-inch forged wheels.

Over and above the multifold safety features that come as standard, the S 63 Coupé comes with optional safety technology: a new radar-based driving assistance system which reduce the risk of accidents and enhance the protection of occupants as well as other road users, and of course, can take the strain off the driver within the respective system limits.

The S63 AMG will lock horns with the other luxury cars such as the Rolls-Royce Wraith and the Bentley Continental GT. Priced at Rs 2.55 crores, the car is in the upper part of the luxury motoring world. We know the price might raise a few eyebrows but a car so good will definitely command a higher price tag.
