Mercedes-Benz GLB is a baby G-Wagen and a very different approach than before for the brand and will be much more accessible
Mercedes is on a world-wide offensive to make sure they are aggressive with their plans worldwide. India scenario is the same and hence we get almost everything that it is available worldwide, except for market specific products such as long wheelbase versions of some cars and estate cars. To keep in continuation with the same, Mercedes is making front-wheel drive cars in the form of hatchbacks, crossovers and MPV. GLA was one such mini, entry-level SUV from the brand and now that is all set to get a major change in every regard. GLA will run along the GLB and the design suggest that this is Baby G-Wagen
2018 Mercedes GLB Design and Dimensions
Design wise, things will remain similar to G-wagen. The boxy dimensions, large grill, huge wheels and other aspects make it look a proper off-roader and will carry the iconic design language as well.
2018 Mercedes GLB Chassis, suspension and off-road
When it comes to the chassis, it will be a monocoque unit with link suspension on all four ends to make the SUV off-road worthy as well dynamic enough. The stance is mildly tall, but ground clearance is enough. Off-road packages will be offered, adaptive suspension could make it along with all-wheel drive as an option called as the 4 Matic.

Interior wise, the car will continue to be high on quality and fit-finish. Newly designed air vents along with a slightly re-designed dashboard will be seen. New dials, same stalks and buttons all around will be seen too. A small 7-8 inch touchscreen which looks like an I-pad will make it to the car as well. Features wise, we can expect all connectivity options along with power mirrors, sunroof, dual zone climate control, automatic headlights and rain sensing wipers.
Mercedes Benz GLB Engine and Gearbox
Engine wise, the new SUV will have the new 2.0 litre diesel engine that just made its début worldwide in the E-Class. Since the car is coming late, we can expect this engine. Mated to a 9-speed gearbox, the engine will be efficient and powerful at the same time. Petrol engine could also make it in the engine bay as well. A 2.0 litre engine or a 1.6 which makes 200/160 BHP respectively. Expect class leading efficiency and performance numbers from the car as always. The engines will named as GLB 220d, GLB 250d, GLB 200, GLB 45 AMG and many more.

Safety kit will include 7-8 airbags along with ABS, EBD, BAS, ESP, Attention assist and other passive electronic measures to make sure it flies the Global safety standard.
Mercedes-Benz GLB Launch and Price
The launch will happen in the year 2018 and India should get in the same year as well and expect it to be priced around Rs. 45 Lakhs.
Mercedes has registered the name GLB worldwide and it will launch the product before the year 2020. Mercedes continues to dominate the chart in India and it is on a slow course to a worldwide domination as the brand locks its horns against VW AG, BMW, Volvo and other premium brands in the market.
