Mercedes-Benz India GLA 220 d 4MATIC ‘Activity Edition’ is the 6th SUV variant and the 9th product launched by Mercedes
In 2016, Mercedes-Benz continued with its winning streak with the launch of the GLE 450 AMG Coupe. This was followed up with the introduction of the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard and later came the S400 flagship sedan. Soon after that we saw the and the SUV GLS 350d. Mercedes-Benz GLC came in the month June and then came then full-blown AMG SLC 43 got launched in India. The seventh launch was the petrol GLE 400 4MATIC, which was soon followed by the GLS 400 4MATIC with a petrol variant which became the eighth launch of the year. Today, the Mercedes-Benz India GLA 220 d 4MATIC ‘Activity Edition’ that comes with 4MATIC four-wheel system becomes the 9th launch for 2016.
All of this means that the Mercedes-Benz India also registered a historic 32% YOY growth by selling 13,502 units in the Jan–December 2015 period and became the No. 1 luxury car manufacturer in the country. Mercedes-Benz sales for the 2015-16 Fiscal Year stod at 13,558 units that happened between April 2015 and March 2016. Mercedes has maintained steady sales growth by selling 9,924 units during January-September period
The GLA 220 d on the other hand has helped Mercedes-Benz has sold over 3500 units of GLA in India. To take it further, the GLA 220 d 4MATIC ‘Activity Edition’ features an Off-road package as standard. Visually you get black decals on the door, longitudinal chrome elements and 18 inch alloys. GLA comes with a host of features which includes a new Color Option that is Mountain Grey. SUV features a 2143cc inline-4 engine that churns out 170 PS at 4000 RPM and a torque of 350 Nm starting from 1400 RPM. All this means, it is capable of sprinting from 0-100 in a mere 7.7 seconds. 7G-DCT transmission comes standard with the SUV.
Features list includes New 8-inch media display with Smartphone Integration package and Keyless GO Starting function. Convenience features includes EASY PACK Tailgate, Rain sensing wipers, stowage package and load compartment package with multiple storage facilities equipped along with a 12 V socket in the boot. Rain sensing wipers, Activity Edition Floor mats, Spectacles compartment in the overhead panel, Stowage compartments under the front seats, Luggage nets on the rear of the front seats, Net in the front passenger foot well.
Rear seat backrests adjustment (cargo position) by additional 15 degrees for efficient use of space providing a 60-litre larger load compartment capacity and Driver Assistance Systems and Safety. 6 Airbags, passive electronic safety features and 5-star ratings are safety features that the GLA has.
