The second-generation Kia Seltos was recently spied testing for the first time, and the spy shots gave us more than just details of its new design. The latest spy shots that have surfaced online hint that the compact SUV might not remain as compact as it is now. It seems to have gained a slightly increased length and wheelbase than the outgoing model, and it could become a 7 SEATER!
Kia has recently announced their upcoming SUV, the Syros, which will be positioned between the Sonet and the Seltos. To keep a noticeable size difference between the Seltos and the Syros, the carmaker can increase the Seltos’s length, and push it closer to the mid-size SUV segment. Kia could pull a La Citroen Aircross, where it could offer a 5 and a 7 seater option. After all Kushaq, Taigun, UC Hyryder, Grand Vitara and upcoming XUV 500 big bad return, all will also have 7-seater options.
The spy images suggest that Kia has given the new Seltos a similar design, giving it a boxier look, while the vertically aligned headlights and L-shaped LED daytime running lights seem to take inspiration from the Telluride can be seen at the front and rear.
The interior has yet to be revealed, but the new Seltos is expected to feature a redesigned dashboard in line with the automaker’s new design language. As you move up to the higher segments, we can also expect the cabin to have more premium elements.
In terms of features, it is likely to feature a larger touchscreen, but most of the features are expected to be carried over from the current model. These include a 10.25-inch digital display for the driver, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, ventilated and power-adjustable front seats, and a Bose sound system.
In addition, it could also retain the current model’s safety package, which includes six airbags, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, electric parking brake with auto-hold, ADAS Level 2 and etc.
The powertrain of the new-generation Seltos is also still unknown. The existing 1.5-liter petrol and diesel engine options should be retained.
The launch timeline for the new Seltos has not been revealed, but it is likely to be unveiled sometime in late 2025 or early 2026. However, prices of this model are expected to increase from the current price of Rs 10.9 lakh to Rs 20.45 lakh (ex-showroom) that is right now by a RS 1.5 lakhs on most variants.
