PAL-V Liberty, Worlds first flying car to be produced soon
PAL-V a Dutch company has debuted the world’s first commercial flying car at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. This flying car is named as Liberty and is priced at $599,000 and it includes some flight sessions, power heating and some customisation or personalisation options.
PAL-V claims that the Liberty is fully compliant with all the existing regulations. The Dutch company also say that this flying car represents “pivotal time in aviation and mobility history”. They are aiming to deliver it’s first vehicle by 2019.
The Liberty is a three-wheeled flying car with folding rotor blades situated at the top of the roof. This is a gyrocopter aircraft which consists of two engines, one engine that drives the car with dual propulsion drive train and the other engine that powers the rotor for lifting the car. It also comes equipped with a blade at the rear which is powered by the engine to provide thrust to the vehicle.
According to PAL-V, the Liberty takes about five to ten minutes to convert from drive mode to flying mode and visa versa. The rotors on top unfold automatically but the blades at the rear have to manually unfold by the driver.
Once in drive mode, the engine can produce 100 horsepower and can reach upto a top speed of 161kmph. The Liberty can sprint from 0-100km in just nine seconds. Speaking about fuel economy in drive mode it can reach 13.17km on a litre of fuel and on a full tank has a range of 1315km. While on flight mode, the engine produces 200 horsepower and can reach a maximum altitude of 3500m with a top speed of 180kmph.
The range on a full tank in flight mode is somewhere around 499km. PAL-V will be producing 90 units of the liberty with almost half of them are heading to Europe. After the delivery of these 90 units, it will start the delivery of the Liberty Sport Model.
