Quadricycles Approved For commercial use. This move allows Bajaj who is ready with the Qute for 6 years and has been exporting it to the rest of the world

Finally, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has cleared a policy which permits the use of quadricycles for commercial use in the nation. With this, we will now see a new category of vehicles in the Indian market. There is also news that another policy which will be issued for the permit for electric quadricycles.

Bajaj Auto is the first automotive manufacturer to showcases this product in India and it is named as the Qute. There has been a lot going on in the automotive industry whether to permit the use of quadricycles which has four wheels like a regular car.

Bajaj Auto had been trying hard to permit the quadricycles which were opposed by TVS, Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors in the initial stages. These manufacturers disagreed that this new vehicle category because they were cheaper four-wheel vehicles and that they could bypass both safety norms and emission norms.

While Bajaj Auto said that, the critics assume that a vehicle is defined by the number of wheels it has, so a vehicle with four-wheel has to be a car. The Managing Director of Bajaj Auto argued on this and said that a quadricycle is similar to a three-wheeler in length but the engine powering it is half the size and it also weighs much less than it.

Now that the permit for quadricycle has been cleared, Rajiv Bajaj has said that there will be an approval for the Bajaj Qute in the coming days and that it will be useful for intracity mobility between cars and three wheelers. As of now, Bajaj Auto manufacturers the Qute in India and exports it to many global markets. They aim to export around 10,000 units of the quadricycles to 20 different countries by the end of this year.

Mahindra and Mahindra have also started venturing into this new vehicle category. At the 2018 Auto Expo which was held near Delhi, they had showcased their products in the quadricycle category.
