River EV will be one of the newer entrants in the electric mobility segment and the company’s first launch will be a new electric scooter. The company is yet to release details about its market launch but its maiden offering is expected to arrive later this year. Ahead of its market launch, River EV’s upcoming electric scooter was recently spied wearing camouflage giving us a glimpse of what to expect from the Bangalore-based startup.
The design highlights of the River electric scooter include the dual square-shaped LED headlamps that give the model a hefty look. There’s also a floating digital console that stands exposed. The rear section gets large panels that add to the hefty appearance. The e-scooter is going for a maxi-styled look and that’s apparent from the wide grab rail and the rectangular taillight. The upcoming model also gets a step-up seat and a wide and flat floorboard.
Other notable bits include large alloy wheels, possibly 14-inch units, telescopic front forks, and clip-on handlebars, which would be a first for scooters in India. The electric scooter also gets a front disc brake and will possibly come with single-channel ABS.
There’s no word on the specifications yet but the River electric scooter is likely to come with a BLDC hub motor. Given the large proportions, a bigger battery is also likely and could offer a range of about 180 km on a single charge. The top speed is expected to be around 80kmph. River EV could unveil its electric scooter later this year while the launch could be in the second half of 2023.
