Royal Enfield has several new motorcycles lined up for launch over the next two years. The brand will be expanding models based on the 350cc and 650cc platforms, while an all-new 450cc offering is also said to be in the works. With so many new models in the works, a new test mule has shed light on what one of these offerings would be. The spy shots that emerged from overseas reveal the model to be a scrambler with a 650cc heart.
The upcoming Royal Enfield 650cc scrambler will be based on the same platform as the current 650 Twins. That said, the model gets visual changes like the minimal bodywork, 2-into-1 exhaust setup, wired spoke wheels and a flat bench seat. The design is distinctly RE with the round headlamp, large front wheel and dirt-tracker-styled race plate side panels. It also gets more sophisticated USD front forks and twin shock absorbers at the rear. It’s also likely that RE is running a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel set-up or possibly a larger 18-inch wheel at the rear. Other familiar bits include the taillamp and indicators, while the fuel tank comes from the INT 650. The braking components come from the INT 650 as well with dual-channel ABS.
In terms of power, the upcoming Royal Enfield Scram 650 is likely to get the same 648cc 270-degree, air and oil-cooled, parallel twin engine. It makes about 47PS and 52Nm of peak torque. Expect power figures to be identical on the Scram but with revised gear ratios.
There’s no word on when the model will arrive but it’s likely that we could hear more about Royal Enfield’s future product line-up at the upcoming EICMA Motorcycle Show to be held in Italy in November. The company also showcase some interesting models at Rider Mania in Goa, to be held between November 18-20.
