KTM Duke 125 India Bound Next Month Could Pave Way For Many Things If This Spyshot Video Turns Out To Be True
Going back on its initial stand, KTM India is all set to launch 125 Duke in India next month. Initially, the company was hesitant of the launch owing to the price sensitivity of the segment but now it seems KTM has decided to bite the bullet.
Internationally, 125 Duke comes with Trellis frame and features 15PS engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. The Indian version can take the styling cues either from KTM 250 or 390 Dukes though from a product range viewpoint, we think adopting the design heritage of KTM 200 Duke will make more sense for the company.
What further fuels the speculation about the arrival of 125 Duke is the launch of Pulsar NS 125 in Poland. The Pulsar 125 has replaced 135 LS model there and features a 12PS, fuel-injected engine which looks like a KTM engine in its shape and appearance.
The 125 cc commuter segment in India bike market is dominated by the likes of Hero, Bajaj, Honda, and TVS among others. All these players are focused on extracting maximum mileage with little focus on the performance. This makes sense as the fuel efficiency is the primary expectation in this category. However, the launch of KTM 125 Duke is targeted at a niche looking towards sporty performance. KTM has identified this and accordingly, preparing for the launch of 125 Duke.
The early launch could also enable it to avail early window opportunity as there is no performance-oriented 125 cc bike in the market. We also have longed for 125 cc performance bike and sometimes flabbergasted why no manufacturer was willing to take a plunge. But now, it seems the riding enthusiasts have got a reason to cheer about. They are going to get a capable sporty bike given these new spy shots, it seems to be happening finally.
