Mercedes-Benz is developing the second generation of the EQC SUV model. The electric version of the GLC SUV is available in international markets. But as competition in this segment intensified, Mercedes-Benz decided to stay in the hunt.
As seen in the spy photos, the model is very secretive and there are few details about the upcoming model. However, you can see some details like flared wheel arches, door handles and a sporty roofline. The biggest change in the next model is that the next EQC will be supported by a new architecture focused on electric vehicles, unlike the current architecture that shares a platform with its sibling ICE. The new EV-focused platform should give the next-generation EQC more luggage space, while also reducing weight and offering a sharper driving experience. The new EQC also offers better range than before. The SUV will be devoid of all issues, including ground clearance issue that it had.
Also, the upcoming electric SUV may get a new nameplate. Mercedes-Benz may drop the EQ brand from its lineup of electric vehicles, according to reports. According to reports, the new generation Mercedes EQC will be built at the brand’s factory in America. The Alabama plant will stop production of the EQS SUV, but will instead make the EQC SUV, moving production of the flagship electric SUV to Germany.
The new generation Mercedes EQC is expected to be launched in late 2025 or early 2026.
