Skoda is the latest manufacturer looking to enter the growing sub-4 meter SUV segment, which currently has up to six direct competitors from five different manufacturers. This compact SUV has been spotted testing for the first time and revealed some notable details.
The test mule had wraparound LED taillights, spoiler-mounted brake lights and non-functional roof rails. Other styling cues will include a split headlight setup with slim LED daytime running lights placed on the main headlight housings as well as Skoda’s signature grille.
The Skoda compact SUV will be based on the same MQB-A0-IN platform as the Kushaq and we already know that its wheelbase will be 2,566 mm, or 85 mm shorter than the Kushaq. It will also have smaller wheels compared to the Kushaq’s 16 and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Skoda has confirmed that this small SUV will only be equipped with a 3-cylinder, 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, producing 115 horsepower and 178 Nm of torque, combined Available with 6-speed manual transmission or 6-speed torque converter transmission.
It will compete with Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet and Maruti Brezza. The Koreans also get the option of a diesel engine, while the Brezza (and soon the Nexon) can be equipped with a factory-installed CNG unit.To increase sales, the Skoda compact SUV will need to be competitively priced; We expect it to be around Rs 9 lakh-14 lakh (ex-showroom), which would put it on par with the majority of its rivals. Skoda has confirmed that the SUV will go on sale in March 2025 and will likely also be exported to markets like South America, Southeast Asia, Africa among others.
