The Kia EV6 will soon find a formidable rival in trjr form of the Skoda Enyaq iV that has begun testing in India. The new electric SUV is a Kodiaq-sized offering and will be the brand’s new flagship model. Much like the EV6, the Enyaq is expected to arrive as a fully imported model and images have surfaced of the car in the higher-spec 80X variant. Internationally, the model is offered in a variety of variants in both rear-wheel drive and All-wheel drive options.

Reportedly, the Skoda Enyaq iV has been imported for testing purposes and the model could go on sale in 2023. In the 80X guise, the SUV sports a 77 kWh battery that supports up to 125 kW DC fast charging. It gets dual motors, one on each axle, with a total output of 265PS. The dual-motor setup also makes it AWD capable. The Enyaq iV 80X is fairly quick for its size with 0-100kmph coming up in 6.9 seconds, while the range stands at 513 km (WLTP cycle).

The Skoda Enyaq is based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, sharing its underpinnings with the Volkswagen ID.4 electric SUV. Visually, the model is distinctly Skoda with the butterfly grille, sharp headlamps and a crossover look. There is an option of an illuminated grille too, which will be liked in India. The cabin is feature-rich and gets a practical second row and a usable boot.

Skoda Enyaq iV Electric SUV Caught

The Skoda Enyaq iV promises to be the practical electric SUV that many would like. Of course, it won’t be exactly accessible with prices expected around the Rs. 60-65 lakh mark. At that price point, it will give some serious competition to the Kia EV6 and also take on the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Volvo XC40 Recharge. The arrival of the Enyaq will also pave the way for the Volkswagen ID.4 which was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. The Skoda Enyaq could be the showstopper at the upcoming 2023 Auto Expo with prices announced that time followed by deliveries later in the year. Skoda could bring a lower variant at a more attractive price point to really disrupt the market. Exciting times ahead, eh?
