Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition Renamed – Rapid Edition X Is the New Name after a problem of trademark occurred
Skoda had launched the Rapid Monte Carlo in August 2017 with its prices starting at Rs. 10.75 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). But due to certain Monte Carlo Trademark disagreement the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo edition has now been renamed as Edition X in the Indian market.
However the popular car manufacturer had to soon pull this special edition off its website due to trademark violation case. Renowned clothing and apparel brand, Monte Carlo Fashions, had stated the violation of their trademark under the Trade Marks act 1999. The court ruled against Skoda and the car manufacturer had to drop this name.
In terms of cosmetic changes and features, the Rapid X edition will be the same as the Monte Carlo edition. Only the name has been changed with all the other things remaining the same. The sedan will continue to get a dual-tone front bumper, a black grille, smoked headlamps and fog lamps etc. The roof and B-pillar is blacked out and the flamboyant sedan sports 16-inch duel-tone alloy wheels, a black tailgate spoiler and a faux diffuser.
The cabin remains unchanged with all black interiors, new flat-bottomed leather wrapped steering wheel with red stitching, red and black leatherette seats,stainless steel foot pedals, custom door sills and floor mats, a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SmartLink and Mirror Link connected with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Edition X will be offered with choice of a petrol or a diesel engine. The 1.6-litre petrol mill delivers 103 bhp and 153 Nm of peak torque, while the 1.5-litre diesel motor generates 109 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.Customers looking for an automatic version can go for the petrol variant as it offers optional 6-speed automatic transmission as well, while the diesel gets 7-speed DSG option. Prices for the Edition X are to be remain unchanged.
