Multiple dealers confirm with us that Rapid with Four Airbags in the Style Trim. Ciaz is set to get a big change in the Indian market soon, forcing Skoda to take measures
The Czech automotive manufacturer, Skoda Auto is finding a hard time surviving in this dicey Indian automotive market. However, they’re trying their every bit to woo Indian customers. Their trump card, the Skoda Rapid is still facing stiff competition from the other mid-size saloons. That, however, hasn’t stopped them from marketing their products.
Skoda has recently updated the Rapid by adding 2 additional airbags. The update is restricted to the Style trim of the Rapid and now along with driver and passenger airbags, it is also equipped with front side airbags.
Skoda has kept revising their mid-size sedan, the Rapid to attract customers. The Rapid facelift was launched in November 2016 and according to the norms, it came with 2 front airbags as standard. In the month of April 2017, the manufacturer made some style tweaks and introduced new 16 – inch alloy wheels and a reversing camera on the most expensive variant of the Rapid.
The Skoda Rapid comes with two choices of engines. The Skoda Rapid petrol is powered by a 1.6 litre, 4 cylinder engine that gives a modest power output of 103 bhp and a spinning force of 153 Nm. While the other engine on offer is the diesel version that pumps out 108 bhp and a peak torque of 250 Nm. The engines are mated to five-speed manual transmission in standard trims. Customers also have a choice of 6-speed Tiptronic for the petrol Rapid and a 7-speed DSG for the diesel version.
The new, updated price list for the Rapid quotes the Rapid Style variant at INR 10,61,230 for the 1.6 litre petrol with manual gearbox, while the petrol auto is priced at Rs. 11,85,300. The prices for the diesel variant are Rs. 12,42,713 for the manual well as the seven-speed DSG is available for Rs. 13,56,679. All prices ex-showroom Delhi.
