BMW G310GS has a long list of admirers and the latest addition to the tally is former skipper of India, Sourav Ganguly. Ganguly has recently purchased BMW G 310 GS and BMW took to the social media to apprise the fans about this news. BMW G 310 GS retails in the Indian market at a price of Rs 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It is an entry-level adventure offering from the house of BMW and primarily designed for the urban commute while offering moderate level of off-road adventure.
The design of the bike is reminiscent of R 1200 GS and it features some interesting styling touches like headlamp cowl, radiator shrouds, short front beak, and sculpted fuel tank. BMW G310GS offers a slightly raised riding position which makes it ideal for the long haul. Align to its soft off-roading nature; the bike gets alloy wheels, ditching the spoked wheels that would have been ideal for a hardcore off-roader.
BMW G310GS is powered by a 313cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine which puts out 34PS and 28Nm of max power and max torque respectively. The engine is coupled with a 6-speed gearbox. The company has made considerable changes in the suspension system with the bike getting additional travel of 40 mm compared to the roadster. Up front, 300mm disc with four-piston caliper provides the necessary stopping power while at the back, 240mm disc single-piston caliper arrangement is used. What’s more, the ABS system offered here is switchable.
BMW G310GS features dual-purpose tires. Front tire of bike measures 110/80 R19 while 150/70 R17 tire is used at the back. In terms of competition, BMW G 310 GS is pitted against the likes of Kawasaki Versys-X 300, Royal Enfield Himalayan, and upcoming KTM 390 Adventure among others.
