Mercedes-Benz India today, introduced the much-awaited iconic SUV, the G-Class, for the Indian market. The G-Class 400d is launched in two attractive variants, G 400d Adventure Edition, and the sporty G 400d AMG Line. The company also commenced the booking of the G 400d and deliveries of the vehicle will begin from Q4 this year. Deliveries will be based on exclusive allocations for the Indian market owing to the high demand for this iconic off-roader.
The G 400d Adventure Edition is a ‘special edition’ configured especially for the Indian market, while the G 400d AMG Line makes the timeless off-roader, sporty, and lifestyle vehicle. Customers can avail either of the models with a booking amount of INR 1.5 Lakhs. Prices start around 2.55 crore. Specific pricing isn’t available yet.
Mercedes-Benz India’s TEV (Top-End Vehicle) segment witnessed a strong 107% growth in Q1 2023. This segment also remained Mercedes-Benz India’s highest-growing segment in CY 2022, with a 69% Y-o-Y growth. The TEVs remain a key focus area for the company, with more than half of the upcoming launches in 2023 planned from this segment. The addition of the G 400d further enhances Mercedes-Benz’s desirable TEV portfolio for the Indian market.

The G 400d’s OM656 is the most powerful diesel engine in the history of Mercedes-Benz, as it impresses with highly responsive power delivery and low consumption. The most powerful in-line six-cylinder diesel engine with an output of 243 kW (330 hp) and maximum torque of 700 Nm at 1200 to 3200 rpm delivers propulsion befitting its legendary status, even under tough off-road conditions. The engine features NANOSLIDE® cylinder barrels used by Mercedes-Benz in Formula 1- with ideal lubrication, reduced friction, and highly wear-resistant, thanks to hard contact surfaces with extremely fine pores for oil absorption. The engine is a world premiere in the passenger car for the combustion process featuring stepped combustion bowls.
