The Tata Altroz ​​, which was recently launched in India at a price of Rs 9.49 lakh (ex-showroom), recently broke the record for the fastest Indian hatchback in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Altroz ​​rider Narain Karthikeyan chased him down and set a lap time of 2:21:74, beating many rivals such as the Hyundai i20 Nline and Maruti Fronx. Under the hood of the car is a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine borrowed from the Tata Nexon that produces 118bhp and 170Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Altroz ​​Racer is available in three models (R1, R2 and R3) in three colors – Pure Grey, Atomic Orange and Avenue White. The R2 and R3 trims command a premium of ₹1,000,000 and ₹1.5,000 respectively over the R1 model with different features.
