Mahindra BE 6e and Tata Curvv EV are two new electric vehicles launched by two Indian car manufacturers. Both EVs come with features and two battery pack options to drive the most powerful electric cars. But how do the powertrain options of the Mahindra BE 6e and Tata Curvv EV compare? Let’s find out.
The Mahindra BE 6e and Tata Curvv EV come with two battery pack options. However, the Mahindra EV comes with a bigger battery. This puts the Mahindra a segment above, almost. The BE 6e electric motor is installed on the rear axle, and the Curvv EV electric motor is installed on the front axle.
The BE 6e’s rear-wheel drive (RWD) setup and electric motor produce 231 PS/380 Nm or 286 PS/380 Nm for 59 kwb and 79 kwh respectively. The Curvv EV, on the other hand, has an electric motor mounted on the front axle, and it creates front-wheel drive (FWD) that delivers and produces less power than the 150 PS/215 Nm or 167 PS/215 Nm with 45 kw and 55 kwh battery.
The Curvv EV battery pack has a range of 430km to 502km, while the BE 6e is best with 535km to 682km. The new prices for the entry-level BE 6e have been announced, which is Rs 1.45 lakh more than the base variant of the Tata Curvv EV. But what is interesting here is that the base version of the BE 6e comes with a number of features over the Curvv, such as a dual-screen setup on the dashboard and a 6-speaker sound system.
The pricing for BE 6E is higher by almost Rs 2 lakhs over the Curvv which starts at Rs 17.5 lakhs and ends at 22 lakhs. However, the top-end in the BE 6E is set to be significantly higher at around 24 lakhs for 59 kwh and 27 lakhs for 79 kwh. Tata is turning out to be the contemporary option with a bold design. However, Mahindra has thrown in the kitchen sink in every area. Mahindra does provide value, meanwhile the Curvv will appeal to a more mellow loving audience.
The Mahindra BE 6e and Tata Curvv EV, while being rivals, will also compete with the upcoming bigger and better MG ZS EV. It will also compete with the Hyundai Creta EV and can be considered as an economical alternative to the BYD Atto 3. Both these cars look dull in front of their Indian counterparts and this is clearly a beginning of a new era!
