Tata Motors celebrates its diamond jubilee this year and in order to celebrate the milestone, the Indian auto giant has introduced the special Founders Edition across its complete line-up of passenger cars. The new special edition cars pay homage to Tata Motors founder – Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata, more popularly known as JRD.
The Founders Edition is available on the Tata Tiago, Altroz, Nexon, Harrier, and the Tigor. The special model differentiates itself with the special Tata logo with a blue background at the front and rear. The models also get an exclusive JRD Tata badge on the front fenders, bootlid and the dashboard. The Founders’ Edition owners will also receive postcards and photo frames reflecting the automaker’s journey and growth over decades. There will be no mechanical changes to any of the models.
The Tata Motors Founders’ Edition cars will definitely be special. However, if you are planning to buy it off the shelf, sorry to disappoint. The special edition models are only available for Tata Group employees and the fitments will be made at the dealer level, without any extra cost. That said, we would like to see Tata Motors rolling out a special edition version for customers at large, and celebrating the brand’s incredible journey with the customers.
In the meantime, Tata Motors is readying the new-generation Safari SUV for launch. The model will go on sale on 22nd February, 2021, and will come with a 2.0-litre diesel engine with 170PS, while packing both manual and automatic transmission options. The new 6/7-seater SUV will get up to six variants, with the new Oyster white theme interior, and a host of features, shared with the Harrier. The new Safari will also be the second model after the Harrier to be launched on the OMEGARC platform. Prices are expected to begin from Rs. 12 lakh for the new Safari.
