Tata Tiago XTA is the lower variant which now comes with the automatic AMT gearbox with the petrol engine
Tata Tiago has just been launched in the XTA variant (‘A’ Nomenclature is for which comes with an AMT gearbox). Tata has priced it at Rs. 4.79 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Multiple dealers confirm this story along with an updated website says the same. Until now, the Tata Tiago AMT was available only in the top of the line XZA trim.
However, with the addition of the XTA variant, Tata has expanded the Tiago portfolio and made it significantly cheaper and more approachable for entry level car buyers who want a petrol engine and automatic gearbox for a car that loves to be in the city as it get a zippy car to drive.
There aren’t any mechanical changes to begin with. Tata Tiago XTA engine remains the same 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that generates 85 HP of power at 6000 RPM and 114 Nm of torque at 3500 RPM. The AMT is a 5-speed unit that has Automatic (Drive), Neutral, Reverse and Manual modes. There is no Park mode. You have to keep it in neutral and depress brake or pull the handbrake.

The AMT gearbox also gets a creep function. Creep function is something seen on high-end cars where the car starts to move slowly (limited to 10-12 km/hr) once you take your foot off the brake pedal after selecting the drive mode. This car variant has the Sports and city (Default)driving mode which the XZA has.
Features like alloy wheels, front fog lamps, ORVM mounted turn indicators, rear wiper and defogger, steering mounted controls and ABS with EBD are missing from the Tata Tiago XTA Tata should have added the safety option to make it a tempting deal. However, post 2018 we can expect it get it as a rule by the government.
