Pune-based Tork Motorcycles has been around for nearly a decade now. It won’t be wrong to say it was one of the earliest start-ups in the electric two-wheeler segment promising India’s first electric motorcycle. However, while that title now belongs to the Revolt RV400, we finally have some action from Tork as the company is gearing up to introduce the T6X electric motorcycle next year. And ahead of its launch, the Tork T6X was recently spotted testing on Pune roads.
The Tork T6X was first showcased way back in 2016 and was said to be in a near production-ready form at the time. The electric motorcycle seems to be ready for series production this time but with plenty of changes since hte 2016 version. Upgrades are easy to spot and include a new and sharper fuel tank with more pronounced extensions, the lines are sharper and the headlamp unit is now triangular-shaped and is an LED unit. The single seat has also been swapped for split seats and sportier grab rails on the bike. The exposed trellis frame also gets covered up by new panels.
The Tork T6X also gets newly styled alloy wheels that appear to be wrapped in MRF Nylogrip Zapper tyres. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking performance will come from discs at either end. More recently, Tork teased its new electric motor for the T6X that will come with Axial Flux technology. The company says the motorcycle has an efficieny rating of 90-96 per cent, which is 5-6% better than a traditional motor. The new motor also promises a smaller battery size without having to compromise on range. The original T6X was equipped with a 6 kW electric motor and power figures could be in that vicinity with a top speed of 100 kmph.
Tork recently revealed more details on the battery promising a range of 100 km on a single charge and fast-charging ability as well. The company says the LIION battery is made of “specialised aluminium alloy to facilitate lightweight and superior strength. The casing helps conduct and convect heat in and out of the battery pack.” The battery will also be IP67 rated. Expect more details on the T6X including the price and availability to unfold in the months to come. Prices are likely to be around Rs. 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
