After a lot of restraint, Toyota has finally given in to the electric mobility revolution and the company recently unveiled as many as 15 future electric vehicles. The Japanese carmaker’s electric push began with the bZ4X electric SUV revealed in November this year, Toyota’s first offering built on a dedicated battery electric vehicle platform. The brand has now unveiled as many as 15 new electric vehicle concepts, many of which will make it to showrooms in the future. The new offerings will be sold under the Toyota and Lexus brands and the company is scheduled to introduce up to 30 new models by the end of this decade.

On the outset, the Toyota bz range has been expanded with a couple of offerings that includes a sedan, crossover, a compact SUV, and a larger luxury SUV that can seat up to seven. The wraparound grille and headlight setup remains common on the models with a futuristic appeal. The line-up also includes a compact utility vehicle, pick-up truck, off-roader and a crossover. Lastly, a small EV makes it to Toyota’s future electric line-up.

With the Lexus brand, the company has unveiled the RZ electric SUV that seems to be the same size as the NX. There’s also an electric luxury sedan and what appears to be an RX equivalent electric SUV. The highlight though is the Electrified Sport electric coupe that promises 0-100 kmph in under 2 seconds and a range of up to 700 km on a single charge. Those are promising numbers and will make the model a Tesla Roadster rival from the East.

Knowing Toyota’s prowess in technology and innovation, the company’s focus on EVs is a big welcome and certainly promises better products in the coming years. It’ll also be interesting to see which of these models make their way to India from the Toyota range. While we do think the Lexus EVs will make it here soon, the Toyota EVs do have our attention. It will also be interesting to see if any of these models crossover to Suzuki’s stable as part of the Toyota-Suzuki partnership for jointly developing EVs and vehicles. Expect more details to unfurl over the course of next year.
