Toyota has revealed the Innova EV concept at the ongoing Indonesia International Motor Show. Terming the concept as a culmination of modernity and heritage, the newly revealed Innova EV also symbolizes the direction that Toyota could take with regard to the development of EV vehicles in the future. In addition to the visible cosmetic changes on both inside and outside, details regarding the power train and the battery specifications of Innova MPV have also been revealed by the company.
The most striking change on the outside comes in the form of blue highlights which have been neatly integrated into the headlamps, tail lamps and body decals. Besides, the electric branding on the tailgate and EV badges on the fenders also highlights the electric credentials of the MPV.
Inside the cabin, the most noticeable change is the absence of the gear lever which is been replaced by set of buttons on the central console. The central instrument cluster comes equipped with rpm meter and speedometer while the additional information related to the status of the battery charging and other parameters can be seen on the central touch screen system.
There is no official detail about the production plans related to the Innova EV as of now. It is being rumored that the Toyota is working to come up with the hybrid powertrain for Innova to launch it in some select markets abroad. However, it will be interesting to witness whether the company goes ahead and adopt a full-electric approach to launch Innova with all-electric power train along with its IC-engine powered variants.
