Toyota announced its dedicated support to the partnership between India and Japan on the human resource development in the manufacturing sector in India. In Tokyo, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Government of Japan (METI) along with Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India (MSDE) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) for a “Manufacturing Skill Transfer Promotion Programme”.
Toyota Selected To Manufacture Skill programme will enhance the manufacturing base of India and give to “Make in India” and “Skill India,” through training 30,000 persons over next 10 years with Japanese style manufacturing skills and practices through the establishment of the Japan-India Institutes for Manufacturing (JIM) and the Japanese Endowed Courses (JEC) in engineering colleges designated by Japanese companies in India in coöperation between the public and private sectors. The first three institutes would start in summer 2017, in Gujarat, Karnataka and Rajasthan. This was announced after talks between honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Honorable Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
The Arogya World India Trust in association with Public Health Foundation of India has recognized TKM’s efforts to show leadership in workplace wellness and health management. Initiatives organized by the Toyota Kirloskar Motor includes an overweight and obesity prevention program called as LEAN Works!, pandemic preparedness and response plan, seasonal flu vaccinations, surveys on stress at workplace and Aasare- free counseling service providing emotional support on personal and workplace issues, occupational health assessment etc.
Work place environment and motivating workers through initiatives such as, Yasusa- Do easy work, and People Connect- theme based group discussion. Ekiden- a unique relay marathon and use of bicycles in the campus thereby, helping to keep up a physically fit body in a sound mind are part of the process that makes Toyota a good place to work with.
