Toyota has finally made a decision to bring its luxury people-mover Vellfire to the Indian market. Toyota VellFire India Launch has been done at Rs. 79.90 lakhs. This upmarket minivan will take on the likes of Mercedes V-Class and upcoming MG V80 and Kia Carnival if introduced with lower spec in the future. The Japanese carmaker was initially stuck in the choice between Alphard and Vellfire (latter is the more luxurious version of the former) for India but after all deliberations, Vellfire has received a go-ahead signal from the management.
Vellfire made its International debut in 2008 just when the second-generation Alphard walked in the market. Currently, Vellfire is in the second-generation avatar and the last facelift it received was in the year 2017. The more aggressive and attractive design of Vellfire is one of the principal reasons why Toyota has chosen to launch Vellfire instead of Alphard. Vellfire stretches 4935mm and features an 1850 mm wide cabin with 3000mm of wheelbase. Its ground clearance varies between 160mm, 165mm, and 170mm while it stands 1935mm/1950mm tall on the ground.
2020 Toyota VellFire India version is available with a hybrid 2.5-liter hybrid engine with 2JM and 2FM electric motors adding 117PS/270Nm and 68PS/139Nm respectively to the already available performance figures. The Indian market will get the latter, i.e., hybrid motor which will feature a CVT and deliver a mileage of 16 km/l.
2020 Toyota VellFire India version is be loaded to the gills as it is positioned for the niche segment. The list of equipment includes seven safety airbags, LED headlamps, fully reclining powered seats with ventilation, dual moonroof, seat tables, multi-colored ambient lights, Black/flaxen interiors, powered doors (slide and back), and cornering lamps. In international markets, the Toyota VellFire is available in 7-seat and 8-seat versions.
