Volkswagen Ameo Diesel engine sedan continues testing as the petrol engine equipped sedan is launched, expect great pricing
Volkswagen is all set to launch the Volkswagen Ameo diesel soon. The compact sedan, which enters in the highly competitive segment continues to be in the news since the last 9 months. Before Auto Expo and After Expo too. Today it has been spied in Pune, Maharashtra, where the Volkswagen India plant is. Ameo has been caught testing many times over the past even after its unveil at the Auto Expo. Our readers sent us this photo of the car being tested at moderate speeds on highway with a Tdi badge on the boot.
The compact sedan, which is here in the market with the petrol 1.2 3-cylinder engine is seen here un-camouflaged with test plates. The car can be seen with the Volkswagen badge and no name plates. What also can be noticed are parking sensor, which will make it to the features list of the car. Design wise, the car has tail-lamps inspired from the Polo and Vento.
The alloys also resemble the hatchback siblings and front also is quite similar to the cars that it is based on. When it comes to the interior, we can see in pictures that it will have high quality materials and segment first features, which were last seen on 20 lakh rupee cars!

Engines wise, as we know it will come with two options. Diesel and petrol. Petrol is sadly the 1.2 3-cylinder engine that is mated to a 5-Speed DSG gearbox. Diesel will be the 1.5 unit that makes 90/107 PS and 230 Nm of torque. The diesel motor will be mated to a 5-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
Launch of this diesel engine equipped car is set just before Diwali. Expect a price tag of 6.00 lakhs rupees for base diesel variant to stretch all the way till 8.5 lakhs. Volkswagen has played the VFM card like no other with petrol, if they do it with the diesel, there is no stopping this Volkswagen.
