Volkswagen India has withdrawn the Tiguan All Space and T-Roc off its website silently. Both the models were sold in India as completely built units and in limited numbers.
The Tiguan All Space was launched back in 2020 as Volkswagen India’s flagship model in a single fully-loaded variant. It came with a 2.0L TSI (petrol) motor that produced around 190hp and 320nm of torque. It was paired with a 7 Speed DSG gearbox and had Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel drive as standard to take on the rough terrain as it competed against the Honda CRV and Skoda Kodiaq.
Whereas T-Roc was also launched in 2020, in a single fully-loaded variant. T-Roc was brought to India as a CBU and the first batch of 1000 units was sold out in months. It was priced at 19.99 lakhs as an introductory price, later VW allocated another batch which was a bit expensive than the first batch. It was powered by a 1.5L TSI motor which churned around 150hp and 250nm of torque. It was paired with a 7speed DSG gearbox which drove the front wheels only.
Volkswagen was importing both the models to India considering the homologation rules which permitted to mere 2500 units as CBU’s. As of now, both the models are completely sold out, according to VW dealers. Meanwhile, Volkswagen India will be soon launching the locally assembled Tiguan facelift which will be a 5 seater version and is going to be powered by a 2.0l TSi petrol engine. Talking about the T-Roc, its updated 2022 version has been unveiled globally but there’s no confirmation regarding when it will be hitting Indian shores. Considering these updates now Volkswagen India’s SUV lineup has the Taigun and upcoming Tiguan 5 seater for sale now.
