2017 Volkswagen Tiguan India launch is done at a slightly higher price but the SUV is truly an premium product in every sense

The Tiguan debuted as a concept vehicle at the November 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show. Since 2007, over 700,000 Tiguans had been sold worldwide till date. 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan was confirmed to be built at the Volkswagen Puebla assembly plant in Mexico. Today, there a bit changes in plan. Assembly kits will come to India in CKD form and they will make sure the pricing and quality is right with the Tiguan when it comes to India like other high-end models such as Jetta and Passat. The Tiguan was shown at the Auto Expo 2016 and Volkswagen has listed couple of things to look forward too.

The design at front is quite futuristic with its design and has multiple LED lights on offer along with projectors. Side profile is quite sleek for this SUV and will be a timeless design like any other car from the Volkswagen stable. The large alloy wheels at the side along with imposing stance of the vehicle does make it look brawny and purposeful.

Volkswagen Tiguan India Engine And Gearbox

Volkswagen gets the diesel engine that the SUV deserves. The motor will be the 2.0 litre unit which will make around 143 PS of power and 340 Nm of torque. Power goes to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual clutch DSG gearbox.

2017 Volkswagen Tiguan India Chassis, Brakes, Suspension and Off-road

Monocoque construction is seen on the Tiguan and will have a lighter kerb weight just like its rivals. 4×4 is being offered as standard on both trims. 4×2 variant with manual gearbox Trendline variant will make it a later stage. The suspension is independent on all four-corners and will aid ride and handling. All around disc brakes will come as standard with the car.

As always with every Volkswagen, expect high quality interiors on the inside. All-Black interior are seen here on the comfort line model. Expect a lot of space from this car in all three-rows.
