With the Indian two-wheeler market blooming in every segment, adventure category bikes have surely excited a decent amount of crowd, let alone the enthusiasts. With that being said, existing brands are already updating their portfolio for the same. Yamaha is zealous on getting a small-capacity adventure motorcycle to India. Yamaha 250 Adventure seems to be part of this plan.
For now, Yamaha is analysing the market via sales figures acquired by the competition. Currently, KTM, Hero MotoCorp and Royal Enfield are already making their way through with Suzuki dangling if it should participate or not. According to Yamaha, the FZ25 can be a potential contender to share the platform with an adventure category motorcycle.
There are more than just a couple of reasons for Yamaha to ration out for the new motorcycle from the FZ25 stocks. Listing a few of these reasons we have, Yamaha’s relatively fresh entry into the quarter-litre segment with the FZ25 and hence the relevance. Moreover, Yamaha wants to operate in the premium segment only. Therefore, 150cc and upwards for motorcycles and 125cc and more for the scooters.
Adding up to it we also have the engine used for the FZ25. Yamaha 250 Adventure will offer adequate low and mid-range figures. One has to surely consider the FZ25’s weight, it is as light as 148kg. With the purpose of it, the adventure bike will surely shed some kilos and boast an optimum combination of lightweight, adequate power and seat-height. But there’s one key aspect that Yamaha won’t gamble on, the pricing. With the borrowing of cycle parts and adjustments like a long-travel suspension, and minor changes to the steering head, the cost will likely act in the customer’s favour.
All of this sounds good and will only get merrier if Yamaha witnesses good sales figures from the rivals and decides to launch an adventure category motorcycle for India.
