Yamaha XTZ 125 Spied in India gives way that something is brewing at Yamaha India for the enthusiasts
For the very first time, Yamaha XTZ 125 has been spotted testing on the Indian roads. However, it is unlikely that Yamaha will launch this dual-sport motorcycle in the Indian market. Even it’s not sure whether Yamaha was testing the bike or the test mule spotted belong to some rival company which is using it for benchmarking performance and other aspects.
Just so you know, the XTZ 125 is quite popular in the markets like the Philippines and Cambodia but given the recent stance of Yamaha to strictly focus on the premium segments, it is unlike that XTZ 125 will make its debut on Indian soil.
Coming back to the model, XTZ 125 test mule gets black paint with silver and red graphics though in the Global markets, the bike is also available in blue color and white decals. It is powered by a 124cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, single overhead cam engine capable of putting out max Power of 12.5bhp@8000rpm and max torque of 11.6Nm@6,500rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox and comes with a fuel tank capacity of 11-litre.
The bike has a kerb-weight of 118 kg and rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch wheels. In terms of dimension, XTZ 125 stretches 2,090 mm from front to rear, gets a width of 830 mm, and stands 1,115 mm tall on the ground. Further, it gets a ground clearance of 260mm though high saddle height of 840mm makes it a bit inconvenient for an average Indian rider.
While XTZ 125 doesn’t feel like a viable proposition for the Indian market, the XTZ 250 surely does. Yamaha markets XTZ 250 in Brazil and the bike gets the engine from Yamaha FZ25. Also the specifications of XTZ 250 makes it a perfect competitor to the upcoming Hero offering, the XPulse 200.
